  • Interjections words that express sudden & strong feelings, reactions or greetings.

    Features:

    1. They express feelings of joy, sorrow or surprise.
    2. They are followed by an exclamation mark (!).
    3. They are usually short.
    4. They are independent & can stand alone in a sentence.
    5. If interjection is followed by a comma, it shows less strong feelings.
    6. They can appear at the beginning, middle, or end of sentence.
    7. The word after the exclamation mark starts with a upper case.

    Examples:

    1. Hurray! We won the match. (joy)
    2. Oh no! I forgot the keys. (reaction)
    3. Hello! It's nice to see you again. (greeting)
    4. I can’t believe this, ugh! (sorrow)
  • Different interjections express different emotions.

    A list of some commonly used interjections:

    Sad Alas, Ah Alas! they lost the match.
    Surprise Oh, Wow Wow! That sunset is stunning
    Greet Hello Hello! how are you today?
    Attention Hey Hey! Look at those pillars.
    Quiet Hush, Shh Hush! The baby is sleeping.
    Appreciation Bravo  Bravo! You played a great innings today.
    Anger What What! You lost your wallet.
    Mistake Oops Oops! I dropped my coffee.
    Pain Ouch, ugh Ouch! I got stung by a bee.
