Interjections
words that express
sudden & strong feelings, reactions or greetings.
Features:
They express
feelings
of
joy, sorrow or surprise.
They are followed by an
exclamation mark (!).
They are usually
short.
They are
independent
& can
stand alone
in a sentence.
If interjection is followed by a
comma
, it shows
less strong feelings.
They can appear at the
beginning, middle, or end
of sentence.
The word after the exclamation mark starts with a
upper case.
Examples:
Hurray!
We won the match.
(joy)
Oh no!
I forgot the keys.
(reaction)
Hello!
It's nice to see you again.
(greeting)
I can’t believe this,
ugh! (sorrow)
